A Flurry of Winter Makeup Trends

Share

Dec 12, 2024

It’s almost time to welcome the coolest season of all (literally). Winter is inching near, and this upcoming season, you’ll find plenty of beauty inspo to complement your chilly-weather ensembles.

Having to pile on outerwear can sometimes take the fun out of getting dressed up during this time of year, especially if you live in a cold climate. This is all the more reason to have fun with your makeup looks. Below, we’ve rounded up some of the hottest trends to help you add some colour and sparkle to the wintry days ahead.

Frosty Makeup

One of the most popular trends you’ll see this season is “Frosty Makeup.” As celebrity makeup artist Jeanine Lobell shared with Byrdie*, this trend is inspired “by the cool, crisp tones of snow and ice, capturing the season’s essence.” If you love adding a little glimmer to your look, then this is one trend you’re going to want to try.

To create a frosty glam look of your own, opt for silver and pale pink and blue hues with shimmer finishes. Create an icy eye look by using the fmg Glimmer Multi Eyeshadow Quad in Vixen, which features a dazzling combination of glittery blue and silvery hues. The best part about this trend is there are no rules. Mix and match icy shades and swipe them all over your lids as you please. The more shimmer, the better. Then, add a rosy blush along your cheekbones and nose for that cold-weather flush effect. Try fmg Glimmer Powder Blush in Petal Pink.

For even more frost, dab on TPSY I Want to Highlight You Liquid Highlighter along your cheekbones, nose, chin and forehead. Top off your look with TPSY Shiny Lip Oil to really twinkle.

Berry Lips

Moody cranberry lips were quite the hit at Fall 2024 New York Fashion Week, and the berry lip trend is carrying over into winter as well as noted by Who What Wear**. Whether you prefer matte, satin or glossy, a rich berry lip instantly livens up any ensemble and is perfect for the festive season.

If you’re looking for sheer colour with a high-shine finish, we recommend trying fmg Love Lip Butter in Rendezvous. If you prefer a matte finish, try fmg Glimmer Matte Lipstick in Wild Orchid. Our fmg Glimmer Satin Lipstick, which delivers buildable colour with a smooth satin finish, also comes in several stunning berry hues to try, including Eclipse, Wild Cherry, Celestial, Hibiscus and Wild Rose. Find your perfect match by using our virtual try-on tool.

Cold Girl Makeup

Last year, our social feeds were filled with “Cold Girl Makeup” inspired looks and the trend is still going strong for winter 2024. The beauty trend, which first surfaced on TikTok, is pretty self-explanatory; it’s all about looking cold.

Like “Frosty Makeup” above, you’ll want to focus on pale and shimmery makeup hues. But while “Frosty Makeup” focuses on glittery eye makeup, “Cold Girl Makeup” is all about the flush. The key to this look is going heavy on the blush. Once you’ve applied your base (a light foundation or tinted moisturizer), you’ll want to sweep a rosy, pink blush onto the apples of your cheeks, under your eyes and your nose. We recommend using a cream formula like fmg Glimmer Be Blushed Cheek Color for a smooth application and a dewy, natural finish.

Using a small brush, add fmg Glimmer Powder Illuminator along your cheekbones and to the inner corner of your eyes for a shimmery glow. Top it off with a clear or pink glossy lip.

Ombré Lips

From “cherry cola lips” to vampy looks, ombré lip creations have been taking over TikTok this season. Best of all, it’s simple to recreate, and there are endless possibilities. To create your own ombré-style lip, add a bright lip shade on the inner part of your lip, then buffer it out toward the outer corners with a brush for that just-bitten ombré effect. Another way to execute this trend: line your lips with a darker shade and add a lighter shade in the middle. Then, use a brush to blend out any harsh lines. Our crowd-favorite fmg Glimmer Lipliner is a great tool for this technique.

Our final tip: have fun! Makeup is all about enhancing your natural features and celebrating your personal style. May you shimmer through the season.
